SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE: NECESSARY DOCUMENTS


In order to attend the Athens Olympics and Paralympics 2004, all third-country nationals who are subject to a visa obligation are required to present themselves in person at the nearest Greek Diplomatic or Consular Mission of their country of residence, in order to apply for a short-term Schenqen Visa.

Applicants are required to fill-in the application form for a uniform visa along with a recent photo.

Necessary documents to be submitted :

  1. Passport or equivalent travel document valid for entry into the Schengen Area. Its validity should exceed the validity of the visa by at least three months.

  2. Supporting documents regarding the purpose of the journey (e.g letter of invitation etc.)

  3. Documents regarding the means of transportation and return (return ticket, driver's license and international car insurance in case of private vehicle)

  4. Documents regarding means of subsistence (cash in convertible currency, travellers' cheques, credit cards or any other means that guarantees the existence of funds in hard currency)

  5. Documents regarding accommodation (hotel reservations, vouchers issued by hotels or travel agency, lease-contract for real estate property in the country to be visited in the applicant's name)

  6. Travel insurance (individual or group)with coverage of possible expenses in case of repatriation for medical reasons, emergency medical care and/or hospitalization

  7. Documents proving the place of residence and ties with the country of residence.

  8. For children of minor age: Written and attested authorization by both parents

  9. Documents proving the social and professional status of the applicant (proof of employment, studies' certificate etc.)
